President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday urged the Filipino people to “be careful” with the Magdalo Group.
“Ito yung mga rebeldeng sundalo na nagkalat sa Makati (Oakwood), pati sa (Manila) Peninsula and they destroyed everything,” said Duterte during his meeting with members of the Filipino community in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).
The chief executive also likened the group set up by then Navy lieutenant and now Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to the Islamic State (ISIS) militant group.
“Parang ISIS ang mga buang. Wala silang (ginawa) but to kill, maghamon, magbastos. Be careful again with military, lalo na yung mga rebelde tapos na rehab because they were extended pardon by (then President Benigno) Aquino III,” Duterte said.
He also said, “So they became sort of invincible na. Pumasok na sa isip ‘yung, ‘Well I can do anything I want because I did the worst in my lifetime and yet I am still here being a senator. Be careful with those guys.”
The Filipino leader is now in PNG to attend the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting from November 17 to 18, 2018.
