President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. alleged on Monday that Duterte takes fentanyl, countering Duterte’s Sunday accusation backed by evidence from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) claiming Marcos’s involvement in illicit drug use.

Marcos dismissed Duterte’s claims, attributing them to Duterte’s alleged fentanyl usage. The PDEA also refuted Duterte’s assertion that Marcos was on a drugs watch list.

“I believe it’s the fentanyl. Fentanyl is the most potent pain reliever available. It’s highly addictive with severe side effects, and PRRD [Duterte] has been using it for quite some time now,” Marcos stated during an impromptu interview in Pasay before departing for Vietnam.

According to Marcos, Duterte has been reliant on the painkiller for five to six years, implying it could have detrimental effects on Duterte’s judgment.

“I hope his medical team takes better care of him; these issues shouldn’t be neglected,” Marcos remarked.

Marcos brushed off inquiries about his own drug use with a laugh, refusing to dignify the question.

“I won’t even dignify that question,” Marcos asserted.

In 2016, Duterte confessed to using fentanyl for pain relief, though he has yet to confirm whether he continues to use it.
